Well, the new British Superbike season is upon us. Sort of.
Brands Hatch was the venue for the opening round and Friday and Saturday practice/qualifying went well. Sunday morning appeared and we were greeted with a couple of inches of snow with no sign of it relenting. So, the racing was (sensibly) cancelled and a new date was penned.
I've procured another Canon 1D MkII over the winter, which is proving handy when quickly wanting to switch between focal lengths. The 300mm f2.8 stays on one and the 70-200mm f2.8 on the other. It also gives me a spare in case anything untoward happens to a body. The 5D with 24-105mm continues to provide an excellent source of paddock, pitlane and scenic shots. My partner in crime (read: other half) has grabbed a 40D and 200mm f2.8 to go with the 24-70mm f2.8. Add a couple of laptops and it's a lot of kit to drag across the snow...!
